WBAL NewsRadio 1090 has an opening for a News Director with the talent, energy and leadership to guide our news department. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, skilled communicator who can lead in the execution of market-leading breaking news, traffic and weather coverage on all platforms. WBAL is dedicated to aggressive, fast-paced 24/7 local & national news coverage. WBAL Radio is the proud recipient a 2016 National Edward R. Year.
Job Responsibilities:
- Management of news department including editorial leadership of content on air and on
digital platforms. - Recruiting and leadership of an expansive and experienced team of broadcast and digital journalists.
- The ability to react to breaking news and embrace a content strategy of urgency and relevance on all platforms.
- Budget administration.
- Strategic planning in collaboration with other department heads on station initiatives.

Experience:
- 3+ years of broadcast newsroom management preferred.

Requirements:
- Candidate must have a proven record of success.
- Individual must have a passion for news and communication skills to effectively manage a large staff and 24/7 news content.
- Strong writing & communication skills.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Education: College Degree preferred.
