WBAL NewsRadio 1090 has an opening for a News Director with the talent, energy and leadership to guide our news department. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, skilled communicator who can lead in the execution of market-leading breaking news, traffic and weather coverage on all platforms. WBAL is dedicated to aggressive, fast-paced 24/7 local & national news coverage. WBAL Radio is the proud recipient a 2016 National Edward R. Murrow Award and the NAB’s 2016 Large Market Station of the
Year.

Job Responsibilities:

Management of news department including editorial leadership of content on air and on
digital platforms.
Recruiting and leadership of an expansive and experienced team of broadcast and digital journalists.
The ability to react to breaking news and embrace a content strategy of urgency and relevance on all platforms.
Budget administration.
Strategic planning in collaboration with other department heads on station initiatives.

Experience:

3+ years of broadcast newsroom management preferred.
Ability to mentor/coach a news & digital staff.

Requirements:

Candidate must have a proven record of success.
Individual must have a passion for news and communication skills to effectively manage a large staff and 24/7 news content.
Strong writing & communication skills.
Valid Driver’s License.

Education: College Degree preferred.
